The Crow
When I was Japan, I was quite perturbed by the number of crows in our prefecture and how used they are to people. Most people would probably be scared, given how big crows are.
A lot of years earlier, I saw The Crow movie and I found it really cool, how the bird is very intelligent and mysterious. As it turns out, they ARE very intelligent.
I found this post on Boingboing about how a guy noticed the black bird’s very notable intelligence. The birds, apparently, know how to use tools (dropping nuts on the road so that cars will run them over to split them open and when the light changes, the birds will retrieve the food) and can figure out how machines work. The guy was able to create a vending machine the crows can use. He did it so that the crows can collect coins “discarded” by people. It’s really neat. Maybe next time, they can deliver mail.
