Marvel Movie Plans
If you just saw the Iron Man movie, then I think it’s safe to say you liked it.
If Iron Man is any indication how Marvel wants to go with their movies, you’ll also probably like some more upcoming movies from them.
Lemme see…there’s the Incredible Hulk coming out in June (starring Ed Norton and yes; they’re actually doing another one even if they already had the Ang Lee flick). They also have plans for Thor and an Iron Man sequel for 2010. Captain America and the Avengers movies are slated for 2011. Yup; you saw that correctly–The Avengers. I guess we’ll see more Samuel L. Jackson bad-assery as Nick Fury.
Other films will be:
- Ant-man (date TBD)
- Punisher War Zone (December 2008; I guess they’ll try to make it up for that forgettable version a few years back)
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine (May 2009)
Since these movies will be produced by Marvel itself and not by the studios, fan boys can rest back and not fear about how horridly Hollywood ruined Electra, Punisher, the Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider and whatever happened to X3 and Spider-man 3. I mean, I saw the Daredevil director’s cut and it’s a totally different movie from the theatrical release: there was a subplot that focused on Matt being a lawyer and that gratuitous love scene was absent. Guess who was responsible for the theatrical cut.
I really hope having Marvel in full creative control over their movies will be a sign of good things to come. Warner Brothers better watch out.
