Talk About Generic Drinks: Whatever and Anything
Q: “What are you having?”
A’s: “Whatever. Anything.
I’m having a hard time.”
Ok, so that last one’s not really a popular answer but you get the idea.
Doesn’t this always happen when a group of people go out? Or when you have guests (if you’re in Asia) and you ask them what they want to have? Well, apparently some enterprising chap out there took this er, social phenomena and turned it into a tongue-in-cheek business venture.
Johnson Tan says, “The concept was developed through the experience my friends and I kept having… People kept telling us they just wanted ‘Anything’ or ‘Whatever’ whenever we asked them what they wanted to drink. My friends and I discussed this and found the concept really interesting. So with the support of my friends, I decided that ‘anything’ and ‘whatever’ would be a great idea…” (source)
When I saw an officemate having Whatever during lunch, I was quite amused when he explained it.
