No more Guitar Queer-O: Play a video game using an Actual Guitar

Just announced at CES: A Guitar Hero like game that, instead of a silly plastic prop with a lever and three buttons, uses a real guitar.

This is cool because just as the video says, instead of some ridiculous controller that just lets you earn points, having an actual guitar (the controllers are actually the strings) lets you learn to play guitar.  Sure, playing High School Musical or Hannah Montanah songs isn’t any more awesome than using a toy guitar to rock out (hey, it’s from Disney and it’s aimed at tweens. What’d you expect, Joe Sat?). But the hardware and the base software is the toughest part. Eventually–if this proves itself in the market–the same catalogue of content for Guitar Hero will be available to Disney Star Guitarist.

Washburn Guitars and Disney is expected to release the game for USD 200 this summer. It will come with a 3/4 scale Washburn guitar and the custom strings which can be used on any other standard guitar.
