From SDCC, via Newsarama, the cast and crew of the Avengers movie pose for a photo op. The movie features Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Nick Fury and Agent Coulson assemble together on screen for the first time.

Looks already like an epic movie.

But this is was really professionally done, gets the message across and is actually effective.  And note, this an actual ad for the Brigham Young University Library. Not bad for a religiously-affiliated institution.

According to Wikipedia:

The Mongol Rally is a car rally that begins in Europe and ends in Ulan Bator, Mongolia. The principal launch is from Goodwood Circuit, United Kingdom, with subsidiary starting points in other European countries. It is described as the “greatest adventure in the world”. Whilst originally the rally required competing vehicles to have an engine displacement of less than 1,000cc, this has been increased to 1,200 cc to reflect the increasing difficulty of obtaining a car since the Mongolian government stipulated that all competing vehicles must be less than 10 years old.

The rally is designed to be an adventure for the participants, and not a traditional rally/race. The organisers (“The Adventurists”) are careful to point out that racing on highways is illegal, and that no recognition is given to the first finisher. There are other differences from mainstream rallies, particularly the fact that no support team is provided and no other arrangements are made such as for accommodation. Indeed, the diminutive vehicles are deliberately inappropriate for the task, in the adventurous spirit of the rally.

Apparently, you just need to be crazy enough and either you have a lot of free time on your hands or a lot of disposable at your hand. All that just for the rough road and all you get is bragging rights…if your car doesn’t conk out in Uzbekistan. For added kicks, none of the suggested routes are safe, a lot of participants end up requiring hospitalization and some teams even go MIA.

Yes, it’s that fun and this crazy trio will be doing it, probably for lulz:

We are a team of three friends from Seattle, WA set to drive approximately 8-10,000 miles from London to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in July 2010.  We’ll be making the trek in a tiny car wholly unsuitable for the journey across rivers, deserts, mountain ranges, and unmapped terrain.  Our trip will raise money for charity and the vehicle and supplies used on the journey will be donated to charitable organizations in Mongolia at the conclusion of the trip.

And they’re doing it in a diminutive Suzuki Minivan. If you’re calling them crazy for even doing this, at least they’re going crazy for a good cause…I think (teams are required to raise money for charity). Let’s wish them a good luck (and it looks like they’d really need it) and godspeed.

Refreshed your memory yet? Good. Now, apparently, the reviews for 1 Gallon of Tuscan Whole Milk on Amazon just keep coming. The latest one, was just posted two days ago (as of this writing):

Indeed, this is true. While walking to the supermarket, while receiving several women’s phone numbers, requests for autographs, and reality television show offers (I, of course was wearing the incomparable Three Wolf Moon T-Shirt), I eyed a gallon of authentic, legitimate, 100% Grade-A Tuscan Whole Milk. Then, several ninjas in black suits approached me. “You are not worthy of the sacred milk. Leave us to our milk purchasing or you will be sushi.” I fought them off with my 14 years of martial arts training and purchased the milk. Then, while drinking it at home from my titanium-coated platinum 163-karat goblet, I spilled a micro-millimeter drop of it on my Three Wolf Moon shirt. Then, I noticed a black hole vortex open up within my bachelor pad and suck in the gallon of Tuscan Whole Milk. Then, it ripped off my Three Wolf Moon shirt. It proceeded to close in and disappear. All of the best parts of my life had disappeared within this enormous mistake. Within the next few hours, I sold everything I owned to buy more milk. But, it was only Tuscan 2% Low-fat Milk. I also tried on several imitation Three Wolf Moon shirts to improve my life, such as Four Wolf Moon, Three Wolf Crescent, and Three Moon Wolf. None of them had the same effect. I started to suffer through a series of nervous breakdowns, and I finally checked into the Amazon Oddities Rehabilitation Center, to meet other suffering people going through withdrawls of Tuscan Whole Milk, Three Wolf Moon T-Shirt, and Fresh Whole Rabbit. Today, I am a humble man, struggling to get by, relegated to cleaning bathrooms in McDonald’s. I live in the dark corridors of my mother’s basement, typing this sad tale on a Emachine.

The moral of this story is: Never spill a drop of Tuscan Whole Milk on your Three Wolf Moon T-Shirt.
