Based on a friend’s highly exaggerated true story.

Yes, I’m gonna keep this up until I run out.

A friend is such a valuable engineer that everyone runs to him for help. But the problem is, just because he did not choose a managerial career path, it wouldn’t be apparent how valuable he is (management there is like that). 

Until I proposed that we spread this rumor that he’ll be resigning. I told him not to give a straight answer if someone asks.

He, he, he…

I actually did this to two people. I’ve never seen such faces of dread ever since I saw my college department head (or should I say, saw me) in Japan back in 2004. The girl immediately went into denial. The guy was frozen for 30 seconds until I told him I was kidding. The department head had that “deer in the headlights” look.

Sometimes, you just want to break into song…

You know, I’m wondering about the answers to the same question. How are they doing?

What may surprise those unempathic executives is that they seriously underestimate their employees. They actually believe that there are less people who want to leave than there really are. But what’s worse is that they think that employees will change their mind about leaving for much less.
