WARNING: This page contains spoilers to Hostile Takeover
Jon was a seriously overworked engineer who only hoped of being good enough in his job such that he doesn’t have to render too much overtime. He just wanted to do his job and still have enough time for personal pursuits. He really didn’t aspire to stand out nor did he let himself lag behind. Socially, he liked to stay in the middle and got along just fine with his co-workers. For some reason or another, however, he had a special connection with Wena that he wished he didn’t have. He recovered from a past, unpleasant episode with Wena but enacted things to move on–albeit covertly–way beyond whatever caused said episode. He also displayed increased dissatisfaction with the company’s management but he never made himself clear about it.
During the siege, he finally voiced his feelings about the company’s management. This put him at odds with Wena, prompting her to break down. But before, the two were even able to settle things, he met his fate when a bullet grazed his jugular vein when a strike team showered the office with bullets to finally end the siege. In spite of Wena’s attempt to save him, David declared that he died.
He however, resurfaced recently, now working abroad and is very much alive.
David remained a mystery even though he was around long enough in the company. He is silent, aloof and rarely shows any emotion or feelings except his occasional headaches andliteral coldness. His co-workers and even supervisors knew very little about him but he was on top of things.
During the siege, he was with Wena in the basement parking. They fought off armed man on their way back to the office to hopefully stop the takeover, but were eventually stopped. . When Wena went off after losing it with an argument with Jon and the mastermind of the siege, he followed her to use his empathic ability to comfort her. When Wena tried to save Jon from imminent danger, David used his heat-absorption ability to save as many people as he could.
Shortly after Jon resurfaced, it has been revealed that he had a hand in Jon relocating abroad and still sways some influence over Jon’s placement. His true employers are still unknown.
PAST CHARACTERS
Wena is a gifted engineer who, in her silent but strong demeanor, excels at every aspect of her job. She is not very vocal about her goals but her accomplishments show that she is already headed for the top. She is strong and intelligent, and she knows it. Though helpful and friendly to her co-workers, she somehow feels some animosity towards Jon due to some still unrevealed reason. This animosity, however, backfired on her. She just got promoted again but she still refuses to forgive Jon of some unknown misdeed in the past–recently revealed to be Jon having confessed his feelings for her, even though Jon has done a full 180 on what he was back then.
During the siege, aside from having photographic memory, she realized she has photographic reflexes. Because she can remember anything she sees, she can perfectly copy any movement she witnesses as long as her physical conditioning permits. Combined with her intellect, she can also figure out any movement or style after only seeing several key motions–for example–the flow of a dance movement, the next bars to a musical piece played on an instrument or moves in a fighting style.
When Jon finally let out his frustrations at management and Wena, Wena finally broke down and shared her feelings and thoughts about Jon with David. But just as she was doing so, she noticed a strike team outside the office about to open fire on them. She rushed to save Jon as David pushed his abilities to provide cover. When Jon, however, met his fate with a bullet through the jugular, further broke down, helpless to save an already-declared dead Jon.
Paris is an engineer in Jon’s project team. She is perky, really fun to be with and tries to keep things light in spite of the gravity of a situation (if the situation isn’t caused by a person or is beyond her control). She, however, can be very serious when anyone causes trouble. There is a rumor going around that her younger sister also joined the company.
She was among the hostages in the main office during the siege.
Maria gained attention when she was hired, with her appearance and speech. In spite of the blue hair and tattoo, she is undoubtedly attractive. She is also affectionate and optimistic. Jon is uncomfortable with her calling him “luv” (along with everybody else). Because of this, Maria is even more affectionate to Jon, just to vex him. She, however, is concerned about Jon’s misfortune with Wena.

Vince is a senior engineer who, through the years, has become jaded. The younger engineers, however, still look up to him as some sort of mentor who likes slapping people in the face with reality. Despite his disillusioned ways, he is very confident and tries to insert some dry wit and humor into mostly tense situations.

Sammy is an engineer in Jon’s project team and Paris’s partner in crime. He is well-assimilated into in the project both technically and socially. He enjoys being in a good comedy team with Paris with their banter. He, however, is recently showing signs of frustrations in spite his new-found responsibilities.

Ana is quiet and shows very little emotion. She’s unlike David however, as she chooses to be as plain as she can be. Her silence can be attributed to being jaded as well but that is not certain. No one bothers to find out, including herself.
She was no longer with the company during the siege, and was recently revealed to be already living in Bouches-du-Rhône in the South of France.
Tony is the well-meaning middle manager who tries to keep things in order between the engineers and top management. He does a good job of handling what otherwise could be a chaotic situation, though, certain things slip sometimes. These usually, however, turn out to be quite funny and relatively harmless.
He was outside the office during the siege. He and Lando argued with what to do with the takeover. Eventually, he snapped at Lando for not doing enough to save the people when head office decided to take a more aggressive action. He tried appealing to the siege mastermind’s sense of friendship to save their lives.
Bud tries to remain cool and collected in all the craziness that happens at work. Though his confidence keeps from succumbing to the chaos, he does get affected sometimes. He prefers to remain laid back but he does not deny the reality that he cannot always stay calm and that he honestly finds that there are a lot things that are really wrong with the company.

Lando is an executive who has nothing but the best in mind for the company. He, however, sometimes loses sight of certain things which cause the engineers a lot of inconveniences usually to humorous effect. Sometimes, however, certain decisions have graver consequences such as staff resigning. He, along with the other top managers have begun implementing crazy ways to discourage people from leaving.
He was outside the office during the siege. He and Tony argued with what to do with the takeover. When head office decided to take a more aggressive stance, he did nothing to oppose them, for which Tony got angry at him. When Tony was trying to talk the takeover’s mastermind, he butted in which could have probably made things worse.
Spike is a project manager who is as much a mystery as David. Management sees him as very reliable and considers him as their “go-to” guy. He’s a very reliable manager and accomplishes whatever upper management asks him to do. He gets things done and if needed, done quietly.
He was outside the office during the siege. He revealed an ability to control plants, plant growth and motility which he used to take down shield generators used to isolate the office building for the takeover. This eventually led to a strike team opening fire on the office which ended everything.
Tanaka-san is a Japanese engineer and is the company’s contact person in Japan. He acts as a liaison, advisor, counselor and even family when the engineers are on business trips to Japan. He hopes that one day, he’ll be the one on a business trip to the engineer’s country but recent changes in their company’s policies have made things complicated.
Because the company likes to hide things from their Japanese counterparts, he was not aware of siege or the actions taken to end it.
Cyan is Maria’s batchmate who has a rosy outlook on life. She’s cheery and carefree but shows a lot of potential as a star engineer. Her sunny disposition, however, does not keep her pointing out obvious deficiencies in the system, albeit with humor. In spite her name, she likes the color pink a lot.
She was among the hostages in the main office during the siege.
Logan is also Maria’s and Cyan’s batchmate. He is critical of a lot things and complains a lot. Despite of his coarse attitude towards work, he is actually very friendly and dependable. He recently mellowed down but he’ll still tell you when things suck.
He was nowhere in the area during the siege. Rumor has it that he already resigned and is working for a different company.
Former Staff
Andy was a technical guru and superior engineer. He rants and complains a lot but does his job anyway and usually with very impressive results. He resigned because he didn’t like how the company changed over the years. It has been rumored that the Company wants him back but he vowed he will never, ever, have any of it.
During the siege, it was revealed that he lead an armed group of former employees which took over the company. When David and Wena were finally able to penetrate their defenses, he revealed that the act was symbolic, and hopefully open everybody’s eyes (at least those still working in the company) to act on misery. He became the unifying voice of disgruntled engineers. He, however, was killed when the company used a strike force to end the siege.
Isa worked in administration but also worked closely with engineering. In spite of her gothic looks, she is quite friendly and approachable and is actually friends with the engineers. Her contract expired and has moved on with other things. After which, she joined her husband in the land downundaah to finally raise their own little gothic children.
She keeps in touch with some of the company’s employees, the most recent of which is Ana, which she learned has also left the company.
Fred was a soft-spoken but capable engineer and project manager. He looks tough-spoken but capable engineer and project manager. He looks tough and macho but is actually gay. Sometimes, his self-confidence wanes and when it does, the other engineers pick on him (but they still love him). He resigned to prove a point.
He was among those who laid siege to the company. Fortunately, he made it through alive and only suffered a kick to the face from Wena.
Mack is a person who is overflowing with enthusiasm. This is a good thing for him because his crazy antics still baffle his co-workers. He is a capable engineer but his eccentric ways can be a liability. He sometimes need to be pointed in the right direction so that his excessive energies can be channeled properly but he refuses to admit that he does. People think that he has Asperger’s syndrome. He, however, finally took a hint and resigned. Good luck to his would-be bosses. They need it.
Jay-Z was a flamboyant yet capable engineer and sysad. He thinks he’s black (obviously, he’s not) and likes to joke around. He likes to pick on people but he also does everything in place and shows promise as a true leader. He, however does not let his tom-foolery get in the way of him doing his job. He left once he saw a better opportunity. He now hangs out with his “bruthas,” working in a far better company, a proof of which is he now owns his dream car. He keeps in touch whenever he can.
Erin was considered “one of the boys” by the other dominantly male engineers. She, however, is very feminine and likes to dress up. She left because she had it with how ridiculous some policies have become. She moved to a city state and sorely misses her family.
She copes with the loneliness by playing MMORPG’s…a lot. If people want to speak with her, she’s probably out on some quest in Azeroth and people will have to mount a quest of their own.
Lupin was a happy-go-lucky but formidable engineer. He is fun-loving and likes to crack jokes. He wears brightly printed shirts and often breaks into song. He resigned to seek greener pastures. He still sees some of this former co-workers from time to time.
He spends his free time–sometimes with former co-workers–being an avant-garde artist, either with music or photography. He also maintains a robust online presence. He’ll probably blog about the siege when his friends tell him about it.
Bob was an exceptional good engineer who likes to sleep–even during meetings. His talents, however, went to waste as management couldn’t give him a sustainable project–his projects were sooo delayed that he’d have multiple assignments but with actually no tasks to do. He left because he was bored.
He now manages his own coffee shop but took a corporate job, just keep things interesting. He’s still bored, by the way.
